Private sale checklist for buyers and sellers

Most private-sale confusion comes from details that were never checked or written down. Use this list before, during and after handover.

Before you meet

  • Agree on the item, expected price, payment method and meeting place.
  • Seller: test the item and prepare an honest description of known issues.
  • Buyer: decide what you need to inspect and test before paying.
  • Choose a suitable public meeting place when you do not know each other.

At handover

  • Confirm the model, identifying details and everything included.
  • Inspect and test the item where practical.
  • Photograph the item and any wear or damage being disclosed.
  • Record the final price, condition and payment method.
  • Buyer: review the record before acknowledging it.

After the sale

Keep the accepted receipt number and any useful messages. SaleSafe records the transaction information; it does not verify either person, the item, ownership, authenticity or payment.

Make one in about two minutes

Fill in the item, add photos, show the buyer a QR code. They confirm on their own phone and you both get a receipt you can check later. Your first one is free.
