Terms of Use

Last updated: this version applies to all SaleSafe accounts.

Who you are contracting with

SaleSafe is provided by Kevin Douglas Ellsworth II. You can reach us at support@salesafe.app. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd, which is the Merchant of Record for all purchases of receipt credits. Paddle handles payment, billing enquiries, tax and refunds, and appears on your card statement.

What SaleSafe is

SaleSafe is a record-keeping tool. It lets a seller describe an item and its condition, attach photos, state a price, and ask a buyer to review and acknowledge that information before the sale is completed in person.

What SaleSafe is not

  • Not an escrow service and not a payment processor for your private sale.
  • Not an identity-verification service. We do not confirm who the buyer or seller is.
  • Not insurance and not a guarantee against fraud.
  • Not legal advice, and not a marketplace.

A SaleSafe record does not make a transaction legally enforceable and does not prove ownership, authenticity, item quality or that payment took place.

Your responsibilities

  • Describe the item honestly, including known issues.
  • Only upload photos you have the right to upload.
  • Do not use SaleSafe for illegal items or activity.
  • Keep your account credentials secure.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use SaleSafe to:

  • Record or promote the sale of illegal, stolen, counterfeit or restricted goods, including weapons, drugs, and regulated or age-restricted items where prohibited.
  • Upload unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, defamatory or infringing content.
  • Misrepresent an item, a person, or a transaction, or commit fraud.
  • Harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or misuse another person's data.
  • Attempt to breach, probe or overload the service, bypass access controls or rate limits, scrape data, or use automated tools to create accounts or records.
  • Resell, sublicense or white-label the service without our written permission.

Intellectual property

SaleSafe, its software, design, branding and content are owned by Kevin Douglas Ellsworth II and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or create derivative works from it. You keep ownership of the content and photos you upload, and grant us the licence needed to store, process and display them to the parties of your transaction and to operate the service.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if you breach these terms or the acceptable use rules, if we are required to by law, or if your use risks harm to other users or the service. Where reasonable we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Unused paid credits may be refunded at our discretion under the Refund Policy unless the suspension follows fraud or abuse. You may stop using SaleSafe at any time.

Accepted records are read-only

Once a buyer accepts a transaction, the item details, condition, price, photos, buyer acknowledgement, timestamp and evidence fingerprint can no longer be edited by anyone, including the seller. That is what makes the record useful.

Credits and payments

Each account starts with one free receipt credit. Additional credits can be purchased. A credit is reserved when you create a buyer link and is permanently consumed once a buyer accepts. If you cancel a sale before acceptance, the reserved credit is returned. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; SaleSafe never receives or stores card details.

Availability and liability

SaleSafe is provided on an as-is basis. To the extent permitted by law, SaleSafe is not liable for losses arising from a private transaction between users, including disputes about condition, payment, ownership or authenticity.

Ending your account

You can request account deletion at any time from the Account page. Accepted transaction records may be retained where both parties relied on them as a shared record; see the Privacy Policy for how retention works.
